Mary Potter Kenyon

Mary Potter Kenyon graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Psychology. She is widely published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies, including five Chicken Soup books. Her essay, “A Mother’s Masterpiece” was published in the January/February 2013 issue of Poets & Writers magazine. Mary writes a weekly couponing column for the Dubuque Telegraph Herald and conducts couponing workshops for community colleges, libraries and women’s groups. She does writing workshops for community colleges, River Lights bookstore in Dubuque, Iowa and at writer’s conferences. Mary’s public speaking repertoire includes the topics of couponing, writing, utilizing your talents in your everyday life and finding hope and healing in grief. Familius published Mary’s 2013 book Coupon Crazy: The Science, the Savings and the Stories Behind America’s Extreme Obsession, an ethnographic history of the cultural phenomenon of avid couponing. Chemo-Therapist: How Cancer Cured a Marriage will be released in April of 2014. Mary lives in Manchester, Iowa, with three of her eight children. She was widowed in March of 2012 and is currently working on a book about grief.
