David Miles

Hi there! I'm Familius's digital director.
David grew up in rural Pennsylvania. Family pilgrimages to Gettysburg, Washington D.C., Williamsburg, and Boston instilled in him a love for his country's history. He took art lessons as a kid from a neighbor, and learned to play the piano and the trumpet. As a teenager he played the organ for his church's Sunday services, before eventually graduating as the valedictorian of his high school in 2006.

David attended Brigham Young University where he pursued a degree in Business Management. But through all the classes on cash flows and price elasticities, David was still in love with art. He worked as a graphic designer for many years and ran his own web design business as a freshman. During that same time, David wrote and illustrated his first children's book called Mrs. McFig and the Very Big Wig, which won first place in the National Written and Illustrated By...Contest. After finishing the book, David served for two years as a missionary in Thailand, where he met some of the most wonderful people in the world, learned to get his tongue around Thai, and sweated through a lot of spicy food.

David has six siblings and two wonderful parents. His autistic twin brother, Jonathan, is a source of inspiration to him today. David firmly believes that family forms the bedrock of any society, and that life's purest and deepest joys come from family life. He is thrilled to help Familius publish books that strengthen families, and looks forward to starting his own one day.
