I hang my hat in southern NH. For the last 7 years, I've been helping to care for my father who has done a slow dance with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. I visited him almost daily at The Inn (his term for his nursing home) and ensuring his care was top-notch. The role-reversal that happens when a parent needs our help can be very bittersweet. I've created a blog (www.notnowhoneymommyhastoblog.com) to document my experience of loving my dad throughout this time. It has helped me cope, and remain strong, when often it feels like the wind gets knocked out of me. On November 18th,2012, my dad's journey came to an end, just days before Thanksgiving. I had the honor of being there to hold his hand. It was a gift. As was being his daughter.
